For Equity, Fairplay And Justice, Alankwu Ward deserves Chairmanship position of Boki Local Government Area in the forthcoming 2024 Local Government Elections in Cross River State after 33 years of wait.

This argument was advanced by Hon. Krees Ojonde in Calabar during Parliament Vanguard’s ‘Up, Close and Personal‘ Session.

While acknowledging the hullabaloo that trailed recent Supreme Court judgement on local government autonomy, this trailblazer of Alankwu origin said autonomy should not be yardstick for aspiration to govern but genuineness of purpose built on wealth of experiences from years of loyalty and followership.

He predicated his conviction for this plump position on offices held in previous epoch with truckloads of accomplishments to his credit.

These heights ranged from former Vice Chairman, Boki Local Government Area, Special Assistant on Special Duties, Chapter Secretary and Protocol Officer to then PDP State Chairman among others. He noted that climaxing these colourful adventures with Chairmanship will breath an aura of socioeconomic and political transformation for the populace.

Speaking further, Hon. Ojonde stated that plethora of challenges bedeviling this locale notwithstanding, Boki is in a pedestal for even development with him entrusted the mandate to govern as Executive Chairman.

He outlined his policy thrust to include Agro-industrialization to not only put food on the table for citizens but improve it value-chain. He assured of intentional investment in education as according to him an educated society is a developed society. The APC stalwart pledged to equip the healthcare sector with drugs, facilities, trained manpower and improved welfare to boost efficiency.

Giving the crucial role of security to mutual coexistence and advancement, he intend to recalibrate the security architecture to perform at it peak.

The former Vice Chairman sued for understanding of other aspirants in supporting his his vision. He traced Alankwu ward political hegemony to the golden days of Hon. Bartholomew Okurishi in 1991.

33 years after, Alankwu wait patiently for another recognition while contributing to the growth of Boki.

He notes the importance of perseverance and ethicality in the face of daunting obstacles as demonstrated by constituents of Alankwu extraction.

This humane disposition underscores Hon. Ojonde’s  people-driven agenda for Boki in particular and State by extension.

While fielding questions from newsmen on the biting economic climate in Nigeria, increased deforestation with resultant climate change and vision for his people if given the mandate, he expressed commitment to fostering afforestation with blueprints for systemic forest management, construction of rural roads to stimulate economy as well as attracting investors to Boki with a view to melting perennial economic recession.

His conviction for a functional society underpins the significance of visionary leadership, a testament to his strength of character in orchestrating a developmental path which takes into account yearnings of the downtrodden.

As the pendulum swings, all hands are on deck to favour Hon. Krees Ojonde in driving the needed dividends Of democracy in consonant with constitutional provisions of the third tier of government as enshrined in the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
