Hon. Eric Iso Anderson, immediate past Commissioner for Information, Cross River State and Diamond Band Leader has hinted that his Band is fully prepared for the 2024 Carnival Calabar in line with the theme ‘Our Shared Prosperity’. The former State Information boss also eulogized sponsors of the Carnival Calabar for their steadfastness while calling for more private sector and government involvement in view of the per capital development Carnival attracts to both government and individual players.

The Thespian turned politician who served as Special Assistant on Tourism and pioneer Commissioner for Arts, Tourism and Culture, Cross River State added that his Band is keen on thrilling the audience with thematic interpretation, creative ingenuity, spectacular dances and aesthetical customs at the event proper. In his words

“Diamond Band, here we are. It’s our moment and we will be making best use of it. This is not all about the position, but the creativity and expressivity.

“We may be young to the Carnival Calabar with just three years on the routes, you cannot compare that to Bands that have been existing for almost 15 years. However, we are going to give them a run for their money, their creativity and for their existence. Assuredly this year is not going to be different” Hesaid.

Recall that very recently, Diamond Band set the pace in reawakening the Carnival spirit with her Fit Frenzy outing. This auspicious activity climaxed both physical, psychological and mental alertness of team members to crux of their responsibilities during the processional art form billed for 28 December, 2024. On this, the Band Leader says

“We decided to startup our fitness frenzy two months before the dry run. Dry run indicates that people start working out, trying their choreography, energy among others for the biggest street party in Africa. The Carnival Commission has their criteria for dry runs including certain number of revelers you must come out with in your Band. We are using the first two months to put our best foot forward.

“We are going to have another fitness outing for this month which promises to be engaging, entertaining, informative and educative. Rest assured that we are ready to pull out all our members for both the first, second and third dry run including heads count. They are so much excitements from the people. As such, we keep creating and recreating as creatives.”

Speaking on other broader political issues, the eloquent Band Leader who doubles as Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President emphasized on the need for effective representation across board as leadership is call to service. He relished on the new narratives he brought to bear as public servant while calling on youth demography especially to be intentional on good governance should opportunity present itself.

On the celebrated local government autonomy, Hon Anderson said beyond the frenzy of Supreme Court pronouncement, Heads of Local Government Administrations in Nigeria be held accountable for even development as the organ of government closest to the grassroots with huge resources to be entrusted on them following recent legal development.
