Historically, squash in Nigeria cannot be told elaborately without the contributions of the Army and the Police Force.

It will be recalled that the military were the first to develop a structure for squash, encouraging their personnel to partake in the game.

Later in 1974, the Nigerian Squash Federation (NSF) was formed to regulate all squash activities at National, State and club level in the country with the Squash Federation currently headed by Boye Oyerinde.

Squash in Nigeria is a type of ball played with a minor rubber softball known as a squash ball that measures 39 to 40.5 millimeters in diameter and weighs less than 25 grams.

The game is played on a court and requires the players to jump, run, dive, and more, all in an attempt not to miss the ball.
