Boki, Home Of Infrastructure Deficits
Boki Local Government Area is home to natural and human resources. She feeds other adjoining local government areas yet remains poorest of the poor in terms of infrastructural index.
In a review by a concerned Boki youth, he outlined the developmental trajectory of neighbouring local government areas with Boki, a feeder local government in gross dilapidation. His analysis goes thus
“Resources are harnessed from the Boki land and used to develop other local government.
“Ikom got electricity, good roads, good schools, good hospital.
“Ogoja got good road, good schools, good hospital, electricity etc.
“Obudu got good roads, good schools, good hospitals, electricity etc.
“Boki people goes to these towns and develop them at the expense of theirs.
“For decades and counting, nothing is done to develop our local Government as we have No good schools!
No good hospitals!
No good roads!
No electricity!
No employment opportunities!
“All we do is handout cups rice and rappers in the name of palliatives and empowerments.
“Those in position of leadership have turned us to refugees and Almajiries in a supposed land of milk and honey, sign of a failed nation.
“Until intentional efforts are made to change the status quo, Boki will remain a draught land amidst plenty.”
