Gov Otu Aide, Coco-Bassey Esu Commends German Hospital Obudu for Technological Support in Nursing Training
The Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Nursing Mr. Esu Coco-Bassey, has applauded the German Hospital in Obudu for its technological support in the training of nursing students. During a tour of the facility, Mr. Coco-Bassey emphasized the importance of collaboration between the College of Nursing, Obudu, and the German Hospital to enhance the training of nursing students.
The German Hospital, Obudu, is one of the approved training facilities for the College of Nursing, Obudu recognized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Mr. Coco-Bassey praised the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities, highlighting the crucial role nurses play in ensuring quality patient care and safety.
Coco-Bassey mentioned that His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu, has lifted the ban on employing nurses, with some to be posted to assist in training and research. He urged stakeholders to put all hands on deck and foster harmonious collaboration among nurses, doctors, and other players in the health sector for the benefit of all Nurses in training of Cross Riverians.
In response, the Chief Medical Director of the German Hospital, Dr. Iyke Osinachi, an Obstetric and Gynecologist Consultant expressed his gratitude to Mr. Coco-Bassey and his entourage for the visit. He stated
“We are working hand-in-hand with the college to ensure that the students receive the best training possible. We also conduct seminars and workshops to improve patient care, and we welcome collaborative efforts, especially in the nursing department.”
The Provost of the College of Nursing, Dr. Victoria Undeshi, also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the college and the German Hospital. She announced plans for a step-down program on new findings related to Nursing care plan to produce excellently trained nurses and strengthen relationships between the institutions.
