We’re a dynamic team of journalists, technologists, and creative thinkers who are passionate about creating an engaging, digital-first news experience, by helping to contain the fake news through factual and accurate reporting of events happening around Nigeria and the globe. As a Social Media Intern, you will play a key role in growing our presence and audience across various social media platforms. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation, community management, and digital marketing within a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities:
- Create and curate engaging social media content (e.g. text, images, videos, GIFs) for publication across platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Monitor social media conversations and engage with our audience by responding to comments, messages, and mentions
- Collaborate with the editorial team to identify trending topics and develop content ideas that will resonate with our target audience
- Assist with the development and execution of social media campaigns and initiatives to drive audience growth and engagement
- Analyze social media analytics to track the performance of our content and identify opportunities for optimization
- Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, best practices, and platform updates
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s degree program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling, on-brand social media copy
- Strong creative and visual skills, with experience creating or editing visual content (e.g. photos, videos, graphics)
- Demonstrated interest and experience in social media, digital marketing, and content creation
- Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, Buffer, Google Analytics)
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for news, current events, and the evolving digital media landscape
This is a Remote part-time, unpaid internship position with the potential for future opportunities at the moment we have provisions to cover Your internet Subscription.
