Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy and the former President of the Performing Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), has directed a plea towards the controversial preacher Chukwumeka Cyril, also known as Odumeje.

This appeal came in response to Odumeje’s recent criticism of Aliko Dangote, a prominent billionaire industrialist, regarding a fire incident at Dangote’s refinery in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.

In a message posted on his official platform, Charly Boy implored Odumeje to use his influence to address pressing issues in Nigeria, particularly amidst a challenging economic climate. In his words:

Dear Odumeje, we, Nigerians, have humbly come to you. Please can you stop the nation from burning…the economy is plummeting. We ask for your power in this desperate time of need. Please, don’t pay any mind to Dangote. He has a lot of money, and the hunger in the land does not get to his side. That’s why he did not understand that he had to be humble before you.

He emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in preventing the worsening socio-economic conditions. Charly Boy also urged Odumeje not to focus on criticizing individuals like Dangote, noting that the billionaire’s substantial wealth insulates him from the severe hardships faced by many Nigerians.

The call from Charly Boy reflects a broader concern among Nigerians about the country’s current state and the role influential figures can play in alleviating societal issues and fostering national progress.
