Nigeria’s Super Falcons fell to a 1-0 defeat against Canada in their pre-Olympics friendly in Marbella, Spain on Wednesday night.

Canada match winner goal was scored in the first half as the nine-time African champions chased for an equalizer in test game played behind closed doors.

Jennifer Echegini came close to equalizing for Nigeria seven minutes from time but her shot hit the woodwork.

Both teams clashed a year ago at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and there were no goals in the encounter.

Coach Randy Waldrum started his strongest starting XI winning with African Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala consigned to the bench.

The team will fly out on Thursday to France to continue their preparation for the Paris Olympics. They open their campaign against Brazil on July 25 in Bordeaux.
