C’River Local Government Service Commission Concludes Training Workshop For New Employees

The Induction and Training workshop for principal officers and newly employed staff of the Unified Local Government Service organized by the Local Government Service Commission, has come to a close amid optimism from staff for optimal performance.
The workshop started from the Southern Senatorial District, with a call from the Governor, His Excellency Senator Bassey Otu represented by the Acting Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, declared the workshop open with a call on staff to justify their appointments by through performance. He also assured of the state government’s support for Local government autonomy.
The Commission Chairman informed the newly employed that the commission under his leadership is set to inject new life and vigor into the service.
“We needed to lay a foundation for you to start your career and this workshop, is to keep you abreast and expose you to the rudiments of local government administration.”
While in the central Senatorial district, the Chairman of Commission assured staff of continuous training for them to be able to deliver on their jobs, saying that future trainings may go beyond the shores of the state.
The chairman also had interactions with the Executive Chairman of Ikom and the Legislative Council, where he also assured of the commission’s resolve to end the intractable issue of ghost workers in order to sanitize the overblown wage bill.
In the Northern Senatorial district, the workshop climaxed with declaration by the newly employed, to put into work what they have been taught during the trainings.
Expressing their readiness to discharge duties effectively, the new employees said the knowledge gained has spurred them up for efficiency and productivity.
Speaking on the sidelines of the concluding sessions, staff expressed their satisfaction with the entire process, while pledging to put into use, what the have learned.
“This is a great opportunity for me to have been employed, after several years of job hunting. I am exited to be part of this training workshop and I have learnt a lot from the lectures,” Said one of the newly inductees.
Another staff Mary Odey, had this to say;
“To me this is a dream come true. My sincere appreciations to the Chairman of the Commission and the Governor, for this lifetime opportunity given to me.dream come true. I am happy to be part of this because the series of lectures have prepared me for greater performance as I resume my duties.”

The workshop, Organized by the Local Government Service Commission in Collaboration with COLLINS AND RACHEL VENTURE, overnment System, trained Principal Officers, Heads of Departments and the Newly Employed Staff of the Unified Local Government across the state.
The training, with the Theme: REJUVENATING THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE, was highly successful.
It featured lectures and paper presentations from experienced facilitators and technocrats. It was intellectually enriching.
Highlights from the workshop includes interactive lectures sessions, goodwill message and commendations from Executives and principal staff of the councils.
With the training over, there is now high expectation for a Rejigged service, where productivity, hardwork and efficiency is watchword.
