C’RIVER State Gov. Prince Bassey Otu Cancels Extension Leave, Resumes Duty

The executive Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Edet Otu has officially resumed duty after a three-week vacation that took effect on March 11th, 2025.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor NSA Gill revealed this in a statement released on on Friday.

Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu also confirmed the cancellation of the two-week leave extension granted to him by the State House of Assembly to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem.

He noted that his decision to resume duty immediately was due to adjustment in his earlier scheduled engagement.

According to the Chief Press Secretary, The first assignment of the Governor upon his resumption is the national assignment entrusted to him as the Chairman of the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Anambra State.

The Governor arrived in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Friday evening for the primary holding on Saturday, April 5.

Speaking on the reason for his immediate resumption, the governor noted that his commitment to take the state forward supercedes every other personal endeavor.

“The work at hand remains critical, and my commitment to moving Cross River forward takes precedence over any personal time away.”
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has been duly informed of this decision, and we are back to driving the developmental agenda with renewed energy. I appreciate your prayers, support, and trust. Together, we will continue to build a prosperous Cross River State where everyone thrives,” Governor Otu said.
