Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representative Urges Young Leaders to Embrace Motivation and Vision
Deputy speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, RT. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has urged Youths in the State to embrace Resilience in the face of adversity. In his Keynote address delivered on the Second day of the Just Concluded Emerging Leaders Conference, Enugu 2024, Hosted by Dr. Linus Okorie’s Guardians of the Nation International “GOTNI” at the Base Event Center Enugu, on the 8th and 9th of November.
The Deputy Speaker, who was unable to attend the event due to other official commitments, in his Speech delivered by His representative emphasized the four key pillars of transformative leadership: motivation, resilience, learning, and visionary leadership. He stressed the importance of maintaining high levels of motivation, even in the face of daunting challenges, as a catalyst for greatness.
“Motivation is a crucial driver of productivity and performance,” Kalu said. “When we as leaders provide support and inspire motivation, we elevate those around us to strive for excellence and unlock their fullest potential.“
The Deputy Speaker also highlighted the critical role of resilience, urging the attendees to view failures and setbacks as learning experiences rather than defeats. “True resilience is not just the capacity to endure hardship, but to rise above it, transforming setbacks into stepping stones for growth,” he said.
Kalu emphasized the need for continuous pursuit of knowledge and adaptability in a rapidly changing world. “Icons are not born; they are made through a relentless commitment to personal and professional development,” he stated, encouraging the participants to embrace a growth mindset.
Addressing the complex social and economic landscape of Nigeria, Kalu underscored the importance of social cohesion and economic transformation. He praised the country’s rich social fabric and communal values as a source of strength, while also highlighting the immense potential for entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology to drive sustainable growth.
“By transforming our economic landscape and curating an entrepreneurial ecosystem, Nigeria can harness its vast potential, leading to sustainable growth and increased competitiveness,” Kalu said.
Rt. Hon. Kalu emphasized the crucial role of visionary leadership in shaping Nigeria’s future. He described true leaders as those who prioritize collective growth over personal gain and strive to inspire others to reach their greatest potential.
“As we stand here today, let us recognize that each of us has a role to play in shaping the future of Nigeria,” Kalu concluded. “You are the leaders. You are the icons, and you are the visionaries who will carry our nation forward.”
The Emerging Leaders Conference 2024, is the maiden edition of the conference in the South East State of Nigeria. The Convener of the Conference who doubles as the founder and CEO of Guardians of the Nation International, Dr. Linus Okorie, MFR, a Global thought leader and Leadership coach, Charged participants with the need to be hungry for success and to invest in their development. Okorie shared his journey of overcoming poverty through education and determination, urging attendees to strive for excellence and create sustainable value. He concluded by encouraging participants to be proactive in their careers and to aim for a significant impact in their communities and beyond.
Other speakers and panelists at the conference also emphasized the need for financial Intelligence, team building, purposeful networking, and mentorship to achieve favourable Life outcomes.
