Hip-Hop Mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrested In New York Following Federal Indictment
Renowned hip-hop mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs (Puff Daddy), was arrested in New York on Monday following an indictment by a federal grand jury.
Although the indictment remains sealed, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed that Combs is now in custody, with more details expected to be revealed once the indictment is unsealed.
“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams said in a statement.
Combs was apprehended in the lobby of a Manhattan hotel, according to a source familiar with the situation.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment with the prosecution’s decision, describing the charges as unjust.
Agnifilo emphasized that Combs had been cooperating with the investigation and had relocated to New York in preparation for the legal proceedings.
Agnifilo portrayed Combs as a music legend and a dedicated family man, urging the public to withhold judgment until all the facts are revealed.
He stated that Combs intends to clear his name in court, asserting his innocence.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.
“Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Agnifilo said in a statement.
The charges mark a significant legal challenge for Combs, who has faced previous accusations of sexual misconduct.
The federal investigation, first revealed in March when Homeland Security agents raided Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami, has now culminated in his arrest.
His lawyer, Aaron Dyer, previously criticized the raids, calling them an excessive use of force and dismissing the allegations as baseless
