In a video recently shared by Punch, Omotayo Jolaiya, a witness, shared what led kidnappers to kill some victims from her community who were abducted on their way back from a journey

Omotayo said one of the victim, who managed to escape, revealed the events that unfolded. She said according to the victim, the kidnappers promised to release all the captives if the local security group, Amotekun, did not intervene when the ransom was being paid.

However, Amotekun operatives stormed the kidnappers’ hideout in the bush and shot the kidnappers’ leader in the leg. In retaliation, one of the kidnappers got furious and began shooting the captives randomly, killing some of them. The survivor explained that the kidnappers assumed he had died but later found out he and a driver were still alive. The kidnappers forced them to carry their injured leader to another location.

As they moved toward the highway, they came across a woman and her children in a house. The kidnappers killed the woman and two of her children, sparing only one. After ransom was paid, the survivor managed to escape with the remaining child

In Her words: “The Amotekun operatives eventually stormed the bush and shot one of the kidnappers’ leaders in the leg. The leader of the kidnappers got angry and shot the captives indiscriminately”.

This gory incident among others highlights the menace confronting Nigeria’s deplorable security architecture.

However, very recently, security Agencies recorded breakthroughs on it fight against insecurity. It is hoped that the coming days brings flowers for the governed.
