Tina Mba and Adunni Ade Set to Shine in Rotimi Raji’s Latest Film, ‘American Playboy’
Nollywood’s highly anticipated film, American Playboy, directed by Rotimi Raji, is hitting theaters on Friday, July 26, 2024. The film delves into the challenges faced by Nigerian immigrants as they seek financial and economic stability in America.
The cast features Adunni Ade, who first made her mark in Nollywood with her role in the 2013 Yoruba film You or I. Ade has recently starred in the highest-grossing biopic of 2024 in West Africa, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.
Tina Mba, another prominent actress in American Playboy, brings decades of experience to the film. Known for her breakout role in the soap opera Everyday People, Mba has appeared in numerous TV shows including Jemeji, Hotel Majestic, Desperate Housewives, Isoken, and Shadows.
The film also features a strong ensemble cast, including Wole Ojo, Niyi Johnson, Jide Kosoko, and Segun Akindele.
American Playboy follows the tumultuous relationship between Akindele and Fadekemi. After being unemployed for four years, Akindele is determined to improve their relationship by finding a job.
However, their plans are disrupted by the arrival of Jimmy, an American returnee with a grudge.
Written and produced by Silas Babalola, the film explores themes of family dynamics, love, betrayal, and forgiveness. Set in both Nigeria and the U.S., American Playboy offers a compelling look at the immigrant experience and the complexities of relationships.
